So this thread will be about My 98 stratus. That is now a full on autocross build.
I got the car in 2005 from a local police auction. The department used it as the Chief's personal car then an undercover car.
At the time I didn't know much about cars. I worked on bikes and stuff but didn't have any real mechanical knowledge.
So I put a radio with subs and some pepboys wheels on.
So this is the first ever picture I took.
Eventualy I bought a bodykit Cause that's what was popular. Some 17" wheels. A warm air intake. Tv screen. And started to hang around with the car community.
Eventualy my one good friend found a 3.0 SOHC from a eclipse that was rebuilt by Mitsubishi tech for fairly cheap.
It sat for a long time as my stratus was my only car.
Eventualy another friend said they ha a time trial event at his school "autocross" he said it looked cool so we found a practice at the local track "Beaver Run now Pitt Race"
That's where it all really started. That day I was hooked. Started adding bracing and swaybars
I started going to more local events. Slowly removing the Rice mods like shitty mufflers and amp and subs.
Eventualy I went in on a garage with some friends and got a beater car so I could swap the 3.0
With the 3.0 i bumped my self into the Street Modified class. So I added eibach springs and continued racing
Making little by little progress
Added a splitter and made wing endplates and stands to replicate the stratus touring car specs. Switched to full coilovers. Redid the exhaust with a Varex muffler. Retrofitted paddle shifters to the wheel.
This winter just had my friend weld in new rockers. Shitty PA salt
And this is how the car sits today.
